"Let's Unpack That"

Plainly put, ASTRONOMY takes a look at everything in the atmosphere, what’s there (stars, planets, asteroids) and what's happening. For example, we could say the earth rotates with this speed & in this direction, the sun emanates heat and light, this cluster contains this metal and mineral, etc.

ASTROLOGY looks at HOW all of those conscious bodies in our atmosphere do what they do, and why that could be so. Esoteric astrology is a multi-layered science that requires nothing to BE it.

All that being said, let's use a practical example to drive this home.

Astronomy observes that the tide moves in relationship to the earth's water and the moon. In astrology, we consider how the tide moving symbolizes movement in our lives. To go a bit deeper, the tide shows the pattern and surge of our planet's water; the place where water and the earth meet.

In esoteric teachings, the water element symbolizes consciousness, emotions, knowledge, nourishment, etc. The earth can represent our physical bodies, concrete information, materialism, and values. Considering that the attitude of tide is where these two concepts meet, during a full or new moon, or any cyclical phase for example, we could ask, "how do our emotions and our body meet, and where?" When the blend of water and earth meet, how does that impact you? That's astrology.

If the tide is a symbolic relationship between the earth and the moon to our own lives of some kind, Astronomy would be the concrete data observing that movement. Astrology says, “lets unpack that.”
